About Mutiara International Grammar School

Mutiara International Grammar School (MIGS) has been operating since 1997 in Ampang, on the eastern edge of the Klang Valley. With roughly 300 students and class sizes capped at 15 to 20, MIGS is deliberately smaller than most international schools in Selangor. The grammar school model prioritises close teacher-student relationships and structured academic progression over large-scale enrolment.

Nearly three decades of operation have given MIGS a settled identity in the Ampang-Ulu Klang corridor. The school draws families from Ampang, Taman Melawati, Wangsa Maju, and Setapak who prefer a smaller school with an established track record over a newer, larger campus.

Curriculum at Mutiara International Grammar School

MIGS follows the Cambridge pathway. Students sit for Cambridge IGCSE at the end of Year 11 and can continue to Cambridge A-Levels in the sixth form. The grammar school structure means a strong emphasis on core academic subjects, with English, Mathematics, and the Sciences forming the backbone of the timetable.

The small class sizes (15 to 20) allow teachers to monitor individual progress more closely than in schools with classes of 25 to 30. This is particularly relevant at the IGCSE and A-Level stages, where targeted support can directly affect examination outcomes.
