About EduSwasta

EduSwasta is a free, public directory of registered private schools and universities in Malaysia. The site lists 501 private schools across 6 categories (international, private primary, private secondary, Chinese independent, expatriate, and special education schools) in 15 states, alongside 141 private universities and university colleges.

Who runs EduSwasta

EduSwasta is an independently operated reference, based in Malaysia and running since 2026. It is not owned by, affiliated with, or sponsored by any school, university, or government body. For anything about the site, including corrections and who to speak to, email hello@eduswasta.my and a real person will reply.

How we verify and stay independent

Every profile is built from a government register, not from submissions by the schools themselves. School data comes from SMIPS (Ministry of Education Malaysia) and university data from the Malaysian Qualifications Register (MQA). We publish the underlying registration code on each profile so any claim we make can be checked against the source.

We take no listing fees, we do not rank schools for payment, and we publish no sponsored placements. Fees shown are either sourced from a school's own published schedule or clearly labelled as a market-tier estimate. Where we cannot verify something, we say so rather than fill the gap. When a school leaves the register we mark its page as no longer registered rather than quietly deleting it. If you find an error, tell us and we will check it against the register and correct it.

Data Source

School data on this site is sourced from SMIPS (Sistem Maklumat Institusi Pendidikan Swasta), the official private education institution information system maintained by the Ministry of Education Malaysia (Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia). University data is sourced from the Malaysian Qualifications Register (MQR), maintained by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) under the Ministry of Higher Education.

SMIPS is the authoritative registry for registered private educational institutions in Malaysia. Each school profile carries the school's SMIPS registration code so its status can be checked against the Ministry directly. When a school leaves the register, its profile is kept as a public record and marked as no longer registered rather than deleted, so an old school name resolves to an accurate status instead of a dead link. Registration confirms a school operates legally; it is not a quality rating, and it is separate from curriculum accreditation. Our guide to how private schools are registered in Malaysia explains what the register does and does not prove.

What We Provide

  • A directory of registered private schools by type, curriculum, and location
  • A directory of private universities and university colleges by programme and location
  • Contact details for each institution (address, phone, email)
  • SMIPS registration codes for schools and MQA/MQR accreditation status for universities, so any listing can be checked against the source
  • Fee data, curriculum guides, and comparison tools across both schools and universities

Purpose

This directory helps parents choosing a private school and students choosing a private university in Malaysia. By presenting official regulator data from the Ministry of Education (for schools) and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (for universities) in an accessible format, we make it easier to browse, compare, verify, and contact institutions across both sectors.

Accuracy and Updates

School data is periodically refreshed from the SMIPS registry, and university data from the Malaysian Qualifications Register, to reflect new registrations and accreditations, contact changes, and institutions that leave either register. The SMIPS registry was last refreshed in June 2026.

If you notice any inaccurate information, please contact us so we can verify it against the relevant register and correct it.

Disclaimer
