About Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur

Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur (SIKL) is the main Indonesian expatriate school in the Kuala Lumpur area. Located in Sri Hartamas, SIKL provides Indonesian national curriculum education from kindergarten (TK) through senior secondary (SMA). The school serves the large Indonesian community in KL, including families of diplomatic staff, business professionals, and other Indonesian nationals.

SIKL operates under the coordination of the Indonesian Embassy in Malaysia. The school’s mission is to maintain continuity of Indonesian education for children living abroad, so that students can return to Indonesia and re-enter the national school system at the appropriate level.

Curriculum at Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur

SIKL follows the Indonesian national curriculum as set by Indonesia’s Ministry of Education. All core subjects are taught in Bahasa Indonesia. The curriculum mirrors what students would study in Indonesia, covering Bahasa Indonesia, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Civic Education, Religious Education, Physical Education, and Arts.

The school also makes an effort to preserve Indonesian cultural traditions among students, through cultural programmes, national day celebrations, and activities that reinforce Indonesian identity while students live abroad.

At the SMA level, students follow the same subject streams available in Indonesia. Qualifications from SIKL are recognised by the Indonesian education system.
