Sekolah Menengah Chong Hwa Kuantan is a Chinese independent secondary school that opened after receiving government approval in 2012. The approval came following a community rally in Kuantan that demonstrated strong demand for Mandarin-medium secondary education in Pahang’s capital. The school occupies a purpose-built 6-hectare campus in Bunut Rendang, along Jalan Kuantan-Pekan, south of Kuantan town.

As a Chinese independent school, SM Chong Hwa sits within a national network of over 60 such schools governed by Dong Jiao Zong (the United Chinese School Committees and Teachers Associations). The school combines Chinese educational traditions with the Malaysian national framework, giving students two examination pathways instead of one.
