About Sri Cempaka International School

Sri Cempaka International School was founded in 1983 by Dato’ Freida Pilus, starting in a rented bungalow on Jalan Bukit Bintang. The school has since grown to approximately 2,000 students across multiple campuses, with the Cheras campus at Taman Cheras Permata serving as the main site. Maximum class size is 24 students.

Academic results place Sri Cempaka among the top-performing schools in Malaysia. The 2021 IB Diploma cohort averaged 41 out of 45 points. IGCSE results showed a 100% pass rate with 58% achieving A* and 79% at A*-A. A-Level results recorded 80% A*-A. The school has won 9 World Trophies at the World Education Games, competing against 5.9 million participants globally in literacy, mathematics, and science.

Curriculum at Sri Cempaka International School

Sri Cempaka offers five curriculum tracks, making it one of the most diverse schools in Malaysia. Students can pursue the IB Diploma Programme, Cambridge IGCSE and A-Levels, Finnish Curriculum (the only school in Malaysia offering this), or the Malaysian national curriculum leading to SPM. The school holds accreditation from CIS, COBIS, and IB, alongside Cambridge, ISA, Oxford AQA, and Pearson Edexcel recognition.

Instruction is delivered in English, Malay, and Finnish depending on the programme track. The school year runs from January with terms aligned to the Malaysian academic calendar. Tuition is locked in from the year of entry with no annual increases.

Facilities at Sri Cempaka International School

The Cheras campus features collaborative learning spaces, performing arts venues (home to the Cempaka Performing Arts Company), science laboratories, IT infrastructure with campus-wide wireless, an all-Halal cafeteria, and integrated transport. The Cempaka Awards Scheme covers 8 areas: community service, school events, sports, skills, academic arena, society, expeditions, and life-saving.

CPAC, the school’s performing arts company established in 2000, has produced professional-level musicals including West Side Story, Seussical, Hairspray, and Legally Blonde. CPAC has received 25+ BOH Cameronian Arts Awards nominations and holds a Malaysia Book of Records entry for the first school to stage an original musical at professional level.
