Woodlands International School opened in April 2013 in Sibu, making it the only accredited international school in the city. For families in central Sarawak, the nearest alternative international schools are over 300 km away in Kuching. Woodlands fills that gap by delivering a full Cambridge pathway to the Rajang River basin, drawing students from Sibu, Kanowit, Sarikei, and surrounding towns.

The school employs international teachers from New Zealand, Australia, the Philippines, and the UK. Maximum class size is 25 students. School hours run from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday. Instruction is in English, with Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin offered as additional languages.

Curriculum at Woodlands International School

Woodlands runs four stages of the Cambridge pathway. Early years students (ages 3 to 5) follow the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) through play-based, thematic learning. Primary students transition to the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), covering English, Mathematics, Science, and integrated humanities through an inquiry-led structure.

At secondary level, students prepare for Cambridge IGCSE examinations. Those continuing to upper secondary can sit for Cambridge A-Levels as a direct university entry qualification. This four-stage continuum means students can complete their entire schooling at Woodlands from age 3 through to pre-university without changing schools.

Co-curricular activities include music, drama, and physical education. The school communicates with parents through weekly newsletters, twice-yearly formal reports, pastoral care reports, and parent-teacher interviews.

Admissions at Woodlands International School
