About IISM Kuantan

The IISM Kuantan campus opened in September 2013. The parent IISM was established in 1998 in Gombak and is wholly owned by the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). The Kuantan branch serves the East Coast of Malaysia from within the IIUM compound at Bandar Indera Mahkota.

IISM Kuantan follows the Cambridge International curriculum integrated with a mandatory Islamic education framework called the KHALIFAH Framework. Students sit for IGCSE at secondary level and can continue to Cambridge A-Levels in Science or Business/Humanities streams. Arabic Language, Quran Studies, and Islamic Studies are compulsory across all year groups.

The school draws approximately 700 students from 35+ countries. Languages of instruction are English, Malay, and Bahasa Indonesia.

Curriculum at IISM Kuantan

The Cambridge-Islamic integrated curriculum at IISM Kuantan covers primary through pre-university:

• Primary (Grade 1-6): Cambridge Primary with Islamic Studies, Arabic, and Quran memorisation
• Secondary (Grade 7-11): Cambridge Lower Secondary leading to IGCSE examinations
• Pre-University (Grade 12-13): Cambridge A-Levels in Science stream or Business/Humanities stream

The KHALIFAH Framework integrates Islamic values, character development, and academic rigour. Students participate in five daily congregational prayers and a structured Quran memorisation programme as part of the boarding timetable. The academic year runs August to July.

IISM graduates have a direct pathway to IIUM for undergraduate studies, alongside access to other Malaysian and international universities.

Facilities at IISM Kuantan

The Kuantan campus is located within the IIUM compound at Bandar Indera Mahkota. Facilities include air-conditioned classrooms, an indoor swimming pool, gymnasium, basketball, badminton, futsal and volleyball courts, four science laboratories, ICT laboratory, library, multipurpose hall, hostel buildings, and a musolla (prayer room).

IISM Kuantan in Pahang

IISM Kuantan is located at IIUM Building Block D, Jalan IM 7/3, Bandar Indera Mahkota 7, 25200 Kuantan, Pahang. The school is the primary international school with an Islamic foundation on Pahang’s east coast. Boarding students come from across Malaysia and internationally.
