International School of Kuantan (ISK) was established in August 1996 in Bandar Indera Mahkota, the administrative and residential district of Kuantan, the capital of Pahang on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Under the motto “Scientia Ad Successum” (Knowledge Leads to Success), ISK is the only accredited international school on the East Coast of Malaysia delivering the Cambridge curriculum from Year 1 to Year 11.

The school serves expatriate and local families across the Kuantan region, including those connected to the oil and gas, manufacturing, and port industries along the East Coast corridor. Its student body draws from more than 40 nationalities, creating a diverse and multicultural learning environment.

ISK is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), one of the world’s most respected accreditation bodies, whose credentials are trusted and recognised by universities worldwide.

Curriculum at International School of Kuantan

ISK delivers the Cambridge curriculum with clear progression from Primary through Secondary. Primary (Year 1 to Year 6) follows the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), a thematic, inquiry-driven programme that nurtures confident, independent learners. Lower Secondary runs from Year 7 to Year 9, and Upper Secondary covers Year 10 and Year 11, where students prepare for Cambridge IGCSE examinations. English is the medium of instruction across all year levels.

After IGCSE, ISK offers a range of post-secondary academic pathways: Cambridge A-Level leading to university, BTEC Level 3, a Foundation programme with Kaplan, and ACCA with TYMBA (University of London). ISK graduates have progressed to universities worldwide, including Monash, the University of Nottingham Malaysia, Taylor’s, Sunway, and institutions across the US, Australia, and Japan.

Alongside the academic programme, ISK runs a compulsory elective programme built around four pillars: Leadership and Statesmanship, Elite Sport and Physical Discipline, Innovation and Value Creation, and Culture, Refinement and Global Confidence. These bring in leadership pathways, sports such as swimming, equestrian, golf and racket sports, robotics and coding, performing arts, and Japanese or Korean language study.

Total annual fees include the compulsory elective programme, the summer enrichment camp, examination fees where applicable, and the overseas school trip from Year 7 (RM10,000). A one-time application fee of RM300 and a registration fee of RM2,000 apply on first enrolment.

Admissions at International School of Kuantan

ISK accepts students from age 5 to 17, beginning at Year 1 (age 5 turning 6) through to A-Level. There is no kindergarten. Placement is based on the child’s age as of 31 August of the intake year, with some flexibility for previous schooling, developmental readiness, and English proficiency. New families pay a one-time application fee of RM300 and a registration fee of RM2,000 on enrolment.
