Chinese High School Batu Pahat opened on 25 October 1940, starting with Junior Middle classes after residents raised funds in 1938 to give local primary school graduates a Chinese secondary education close to home. The early campus on Jalan Tanjung Labuh began on a 2-acre site with about 104 students under its first principal, Li Shaoda. It was first called the Overseas Chinese School and took the Chinese High School name in 1963.
