Pay Fong High School, known in Bahasa Malaysia as Sekolah Menengah Pay Fong and in Mandarin as 培风中学, opened on 7 July 1913 and is the only Chinese Independent High School in Melaka. The school was founded by members of the local Chinese community to provide Mandarin-medium secondary education, and it continues to operate as a private school that receives no government subsidy or grant.

The main campus sits at 40 Jalan Tan Chay Yan in Melaka city, near Jalan Kubu and Jalan Kampong Empat. Enrolment is close to 1,167 students across the Junior and Senior Middle levels, and the school has acquired additional land opposite the existing site to expand its facilities. Pay Fong High School follows the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) pathway used across the Chinese Independent school system in Malaysia. At Senior Middle level, students are streamed into science, commerce, and general tracks based on their Junior Middle results.

The UEC is set and administered by Dong Zong and the United Chinese School Committees Association of Malaysia (UCSCAM). Mandarin is the main medium of instruction, while Bahasa Malaysia is a compulsory subject and English is taught throughout, giving the school a trilingual teaching approach. Alongside the UEC, Pay Fong High School runs a parallel track that lets students sit the national SPM examination, so graduates can hold both the Chinese-stream and national qualifications when they apply to universities.
