Sekolah Rendah Tunku Putra-HELP (TPHS) opened in 1996, making it one of the earliest private schools in Kuching to offer an internationally oriented education. The school is a partnership with HELP Education Group, one of Malaysia’s established private education providers. After nearly three decades, TPHS has grown to over 700 students representing 20 nationalities, with a purpose-built campus that can accommodate up to 1,500.

The school moved to its current Northbank campus along the Kuching-Samarahan Expressway, a purpose-built facility designed for its growing enrolment. This gives TPHS a physical campus that matches its scale, unlike schools that operate from converted commercial or residential buildings.

Curriculum at Sekolah Rendah Tunku Putra-HELP

TPHS follows the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and the Cambridge framework. The IPC uses a thematic, cross-curricular approach where students explore topics through multiple subject lenses rather than isolated lessons. This model builds on the HELP Education Group’s experience running international-standard programmes across Malaysia.

Despite its registration as a private primary school under MOE Malaysia, the school’s curriculum aligns more closely with international school standards. Students gain exposure to both the Cambridge pathway and the structured inquiry approach of IPC.
