The International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) has operated since 1965, making it the longest-running IB World School in Malaysia. The school serves families from across the diplomatic, corporate, and professional communities in Greater KL, with approximately 1,500 students from dozens of nationalities.

ISKL holds CIS, COBIS, and IB World School accreditations. The school operates from its Ampang Hilir campus with purpose-built facilities for all levels from Elementary through High School.

Families pay RM 1,780 as a one-time non-refundable application fee. The Student Registration Fee of RM 59,000 applies from Prep Senior onwards (not at Prep Reception or Prep Junior level). Enrolment deposits sit at RM 4,400 for Prep Junior and RM 10,200 from Prep Senior. Uniforms, the mandatory Global Action Program (GAP) trip from Grade 9 upwards, lunch, transport, and the Life-Centered Education learning support service (RM 49,400 per year if applicable) are charged separately. External assessment fees apply only at IB and AP level, not in Early Years.

Curriculum and Daily Structure at ISKL Prep Reception

ISKL’s Early Childhood Program follows the American curriculum standards used by the school throughout Elementary, anchored by Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English and Mathematics and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for Science. Ontario standards inform the arts curriculum. Teachers describe the approach as guided inquiry and play. Prep Reception and Prep Junior run on a half-day rhythm from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm, giving age-3 and age-4 children a shorter school day with structured exploration through learning stations, outdoor play, music and movement, and storytime. Prep Senior at age 5 transitions to the full school day (8:00 am to 2:45 pm) to align with Lower Elementary. Class sizes are capped at 18 to 22. The Mandarin and Bahasa Malaysia programmes are available as additional languages from Early Years.
