About Kolej Universiti IJN
Kolej Universiti IJN, in English IJN University College (IJNUC), is the academic arm of Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), Malaysia’s National Heart Institute. It belongs to the IJN Holdings group and is registered with the Malaysian Qualifications Agency under institution reference IPTS-453. The college trains nurses, allied health professionals and healthcare managers, and its programmes lean heavily towards cardiac and cardiothoracic care, the clinical specialty of its parent hospital.
The institution started in 2007 as the IJN Training Division, set up to support the professional development of IJN’s own clinical staff. In 2008 it became IJN College and launched its first flagship programme, the Graduate Certificate in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Sciences. In 2023 it introduced the Diploma in Medical and Health Sciences and formalised three faculties. The Ministry of Higher Education approved its upgrade to university college status on 13 May 2025, and the Prime Minister officiated the launch of IJN University College on 4 November 2025.
IJN reports more than 1,000 students enrolled and, by mid-2025, more than 600 graduates since the college began, over 400 of them from the cardiovascular and thoracic graduate certificate.
Location of Kolej Universiti IJN in Kuala Lumpur
Kolej Universiti IJN lists two addresses in Kuala Lumpur. The first is No. 145, Blok A and B, Jalan Tun Razak, 50400 Kuala Lumpur, on the National Heart Institute site. The second is Levels 10 to 13 of Bangunan Yayasan Selangor, Jalan Raja Muda Abdul Aziz, Kampung Baru, 50300 Kuala Lumpur.
Being next to a national tertiary cardiac centre is the college’s main practical advantage. Nursing and allied health students train close to cardiac wards, catheterisation laboratories and intensive care units that handle complex heart and lung cases.

The college runs three faculties: the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, the Faculty of Nursing, and the Faculty of Managerial Sciences. The MQA register entry for IPTS-453 lists these programmes:
- Foundation: Foundation in Science, the pre-university route into the health science diplomas and degrees.
- Allied health diplomas: Diploma in Pharmacy, Diploma in Physiotherapy, and Diploma in Psychology.
- Management diplomas: Diploma in Healthcare Management, Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health, Diploma in Human Resource Management, Diploma in Business Administration, and Diploma in Accounting.
- Post-registration cardiac nursing: Advanced Diploma in Cardiac Nursing and Advanced Diploma in Cardiac Emergencies, for registered nurses moving into specialist cardiac work.
- Postgraduate certificate: Graduate Certificate in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Sciences.
- Short professional programmes: Post Basic Infection Control, and a Professional Certificate in Coronary Critical Care Nursing run in collaboration with the University of South Australia (UniSA).
With university college status, IJN announced three newly approved programmes from the September 2025 intake: a Bachelor of Science in Cardiovascular Technology (Hons), a Bachelor of Nursing Science (Hons), and a Diploma in Nursing. It has also named bachelor’s programmes in pharmaceutical technology, pharmacy and physiotherapy, master’s programmes in cardiothoracic surgery, health psychology and healthcare management, and a PhD in healthcare management as planned additions. Treat planned programmes as not yet open until they appear on the MQA register.
Who Kolej Universiti IJN Suits
The cardiac nursing advanced diplomas and the cardiovascular and thoracic graduate certificate are aimed at working nurses and allied health staff who want to specialise. Training attached to a national heart centre is the main reason to choose IJN over a general nursing college.
For school leavers, the Foundation in Science leads into the pharmacy, physiotherapy and new nursing and cardiovascular technology programmes.
